The setting of the novel i am reading is confusing. It is 1st person, Manny Hernandez is telling the story , the first chapter is basically about his brother and what he does. He lives in a neighborhood w a gang and he is pressured by his brother to join it. His dad is abusive but works in the city. He is a mexican-American so he more than likely lives in america, he speaks spanish with his mom. Its different from where i live because i dont live in a neighborhood with a gang , and my dad isnt abusive and my brither diesnt deal drugs.

The orblem that Manny is facing is that he is getting pressured by his brither to join a gang and he wants to choose his own life. His briother named Bernardo is focused on the most. its nit all sbiut manny its abiut hus brither too. He is different from me because he has a dfferent life than me , it seems like he came from, mexico and is living in texas or somethung . we are similar because he is bold and so am i , hes quiet and i am too.
